Ōuchi Yoshioki letter (大内義興書状)


It has been reported that you achieved victory at the battle of Kokubuyama in Yoshū.[1] Excellent. Please consult with each [other]. Your continued military service will make me most pleased. Please speak [of this] to Owari no kami.[2] Respectfully.

29th day. 11th month                   Yoshioki (monogram)

To: Murakami Kunai taifu[3]

[1] Iyo province. Currently Imaharu city, Ehime prefecture.

[2] Sue Okifusa, a powerful retainer of Yoshioki whose base was in the eastern regions of the Ōuchi territories, and closer to the Murakami. Okifusa had the honorary title of Governor of Owari Province.
