#3 1569 oath with Reisha jōgan and Daishi kanjō invocations
We convey our opinion concerning the current dispute between the Saji and the Isano family.
[Item] From now on, when cutting grass on ridges [of rice fields] in Isano village, both the Kosaji and Isano should be present.
We believe our opinion to be fair and free from favoritism and prejudice. Therefore, we issue this document with our signatures. If we were to tell a lie, we would receive harsh punishment from two oaths (kishōmon) of Reisha [jōgan] and Daishi kanjō. The signed letter is thus.

[Reisha jōgan invocation]
We respectfully invoke the Reisha (shrine)
Making humble offerings (散供), and repeating many times our prayers (再拝々々). The year is (blank) and the zodiac year is (blank). The number of months [of this year] is twelve, and the number of dates [of this year] is about three hundred and (blank). We shall set an auspicious day, and we, fervent believers (信心之大施主), respectfully invoke (謹奉勧請) the god Brahmā (梵天), the god Indraḥ (帝釈), Four Heavenly Kings (四大天王) for the high deities, and for the lower deities, starting with all the gods of the earth (堅牢地神), in the east, Trailokyavijaya the Wrathful (三世夜叉明王), in the south, Kuṇḍali the Wrathful (軍荼利夜叉明王), in the west Yamāntaka the Wrathful (大威徳夜叉明王), in the north Vajrayakṣa the Wrathful (金剛夜叉明王), and in the center The Great Acalanātha the Immobile (大日大聖不動明王), the gods around the world (普天卒土冥衆), King Enma of the Flames (炎魔法王), the Officers of the Five Hells (五道冥官), the Great Deity of the Eastern Peak (太山府君), the Two Secretaries of the King Enma (司命司禄神), the Sixteen Good Protector Deities upholding the Prajna (般若守護十六善神王), the Five Forceful Bodhisattvas (五大力菩薩), the Eight Legions (天龍八部聖衆), the Twenty-Eight Constellations (二十八部宿), and in all the three thousand Buddhas of the future realm (三千星宿劫) and the Raging Gods of the Three Treasures (三宝荒神), Mārīcī (摩利支尊天), the God Leading the Twelve Generals (天一神), we shall beseech them earnestly. And for the ancestral shrine of the Realm of the Sun (Japan 日域宗廟), the Two Shrines of Amaterasu at Ise (伊勢天照皇太神両宮), its various branch shrines (諸末社), the Hachiman Bodhisattva (八幡大菩薩), the Kasuga deity (春日大明神), the four deities of Sumiyoshi (住吉四所大明神), the Matsuo deity (松尾大明神), the Hirano deity (平野大明神), the deities of the lower and upper Kamo (賀茂下上大明神), the deity of Kibune (貴舟大明神), Daijisai Tenjin of Kitano Tenman[gū] (北野天満大自在天神), the Ox-head King deity of Gion (祇園牛頭天王), the deity of Yoshida (吉田大明神), the deity of Hirota (広田大明神), the Twenty-one shrines and the San’nō shrine [at Mt. Hiei] that protect the imperial castle (王城鎮守山王二十一社), the Kanzan deity (関山大明神), the Avatars of the three shrines of Kumano (熊野三所大権現), and especially the guardians avatars of the east (Kantō 関東守護) Izu and Hakone (伊⾖・箱根両所権現), the Mishima deity (三嶋⼤明神), the Kashima deity (鹿嶋大明神), the Fuji Sengen Great Bodhisattva (富士浅間大菩薩), the Great Avatar of Hakusan Myōri (白山妙理大権現), the deity of Aburahi (油日大明神), the deity of this shrine, the Handō Avatar (飯導権現), the various great and small deities of the 60-odd provinces of Japan (⽇本国中六⼗余州之大小之諸神祇), and in addition great and small Tengū of mountains (山々之大小天狗), shall all congregate and indicate the proper path (指集正路化給). If in only one small matter, we were to lie, may we contract black and white leprosy in this life, and descend directly into the three hells in the afterlife, and may we never return from hells (在永無浮事), but rather suffer terrible punishments on our 84,000
pores and the 42 joints of our bones. This oath (kishō mon) to the Reisha is thus.
We convey the above opinion without favoritism and prejudice. If we were to
tell a lie, we would receive harsh punishment from this oath ( kishōmon). The reisha kishōmon is thus.

We respectfully invoke Master Saichō and write an oath (kishōmon)
We, Buddhist students (学徒), press the palms of our hands together from the bottom of our hearts (至心合掌) and vow (稽首和南) to all the Buddhas of the three temporal divisions and the ten directions (三世十方諸仏神), Irate deities (忿怒聖衆), all the Buddhas of the universe (尽虚空遍法界諸仏如来), Enlightened Buddhas (応正等覚), Great Bodhisattvas (諸大菩薩, 摩訶薩), all the disciples (一切声聞辟支仏衆), the god Brahmā (梵天), the god Indraḥ (帝釈), Four Heavenly Kings (四大天王), the Sun, the Moon, and the Five Planets (日月五星), Twenty-Eight Constellations (二十八宿), the god Mahākāla (大黒天神), the goddess Bhumi (堅牢地神)、the goddess Sarasvatī (大弁才天), the goddess Śrī-mahādevī (吉祥天), the god Vināyaka (聖衆歓喜天), the general Pañcika (散脂大将), Twenty-Eight Guardians (二十八部衆), the generals Dharmapala (鬼神諸将), the protector (一切護法天王) and other protectors of Buddhist Law (天衆諸善神王).
We vow again (復稽首) to the halls of this mountain (当山諸堂), the buddha Vairocana (大日如来), the bodhisattva Maitreya (弥勒菩薩), the goddess of Mercy (大悲観音), the god Brahmā (梵), the god Indraḥ (釈), Four Heavenly Kings (四王), the protectors of Law (護法聖衆), the Central Hall (根本中堂), the Buddha Bhaisajyaguru (薬師如来), Suryaprabha and Candraprabha (日光・月光遍照菩薩), Manjushri (大聖文殊), Vaiśravaṇa (毘沙門天王), Divine Generals (神将), a gathering of saints in the Womb Realm (海会聖衆)、the Hall of the wheel of the Dharma (転法輪堂), the East and West Pagodas (東西両堂), saints of sub-temples (諸房三宝聖衆), the Triad of the Shuryōgōin temple (首楞厳院三尊), a gathering of protectors of various halls in the Diamond Realm (界会所有中諸堂護法聖衆).
Again, we are awakened (更復驚覚) by the deities of Hachiman, Kamo, Matsuo, Inari, Gion, and Hirano (八幡・賀茂・松尾・稲荷・祇薗・平野大明神), the deity of Kasuga (春日大明神), the deities of Hie and Sumiyoshi (日吉・住吉諸大明神), the deity of Tenman (天満大聖威徳), and many spirits from generation to generation (代々諸仏霊等).
Again, we sacrifice our lives (更復帰命) for the belief in Buddhist masters in India (震旦国中), Nangaku (南岳: Ch. Nanyue), Tendai (天台), Shōan (章安: Ch. Zhangan), Myōraku (妙楽: Ch. Zhànrán), Zenmui (善無畏: Ch. Shanwuwei), Sanzō (三蔵: Ch. Sanzang), Kongōchi (金剛智: Ch. Jingang Zhi), Fukū (不空: Ch. Bukong), Ikkō (一行: Ch. Yi Xing), Keika (恵果: Ch. Huiguo), the deity of Aburahi (油日大明神), the deity of this shrine (当社大明神), the Handō Avatar (飯導権現), and all other saints who transmitted exoteric and esoteric Buddhism (惣而顕密伝灯諸尊師等). We single-mindedly swear.
If we were to tell a lie, we would receive harsh punishment. The Daishi kanjō oath (kishōmon) is thus.
We convey the above opinion without favoritism and prejudice. If we were to
tell a lie, we would receive severe punishment from this oath (kishōmon). The Daishi kanjō oath ( kishōmon) is thus.
