Monogrammed order from Ashikaga Yoshimochi (Ashikaga Yoshimochi gohan mikyōjo)

(Monogram) [Ashikaga Yoshimochi]

Revenue from Shōzei, Hisatomi, and elsewhere in Tajiri district in Suruga province are designated for the Niedono.1 Immediately divest the Tago and Ishikawa and have Ōkusa Kinnori manage there.

Henceforth, shugo (protectors) shall not have the right to enter these regions.

Thus.

The twenty first day of the twelfth month in the twenty-fifth year of Ōei (1418)

1. The Ōkusa were members of the Ashikaga family guard (hōkōshū) and specialized in cooking for the Ashikaga bakufu. The Niedono is a shorthand for an imperial storehouse, but in this case means that the revenue from these lands will be diverted for the enthronement of Yoshimochi’s son Yoshikazu (1407-1425), who became shogun in 1423. Their documents scattered. One was purchased by Doshisha University approximately a decade ago. https://doshisha.repo.nii.ac.jp/records/22904
